The Los Alamos Hilltoppers lost against the Rio Rancho Rams back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Los Alamos fell 47-38 to Rio Rancho. While losing is never fun, Los Alamos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Rio Rancho is ranked tenth).
Sofia Trujillo and Abigail Martinez certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Trujillo scored ten points, while Martinez scored ten points along with two steals. Trujillo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Los Alamos' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Rio Rancho, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Alamos will face off against Moriarty at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Moriarty is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Rio Rancho, they will head out on the road to take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atrisco Heritage Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
