The Gadsden County Jaguars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They snuck past Wakulla with a 55-50 win. The win was a breath of fresh air for Gadsden County as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Gadsden County found their leader in underclassman Camyria Clemons, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Clemons scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Eliana Key, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Wakulla's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyendra Thomas, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Amariyah Donaldson who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Thomas is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Gadsden County's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Wakulla, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gadsden County will square off against the Baby Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully FAMU DRS focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 40 on Saturday. As for Wakulla, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
