Westwood has won four straight games at home, while Mountain View has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Warriors will welcome the Toros at 3:45 p.m.
Westwood managed to slip by Skyline the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors came up short against the Coyotes on Thursday, falling 14-3. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Mountain View made sure to put some runs up on the board against Highland on Friday. The Toros put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Toros have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mountain View got a great performance from Justice Yanke as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Yanke also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Toros are 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Mountain View let Beckham Barney and Brady Goodman run wild. Barney scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Goodman scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Goodman has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Mitchell Lamoreaux was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Mountain View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Westwood, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-7.
Westwood took their victory against Mountain View when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Toros have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
