The Sutton Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Heartland Huskies on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Sutton couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freeman on Saturday. Sutton has struggled against Freeman recently, as their match on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aidan Jones, who scored 9 points. Cole Baumert was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Meanwhile, Heartland pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-58 to Wilber-Clatonia. Heartland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Carter Siebert, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Regier, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Heartland were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilber-Clatonia only racked up 21.
Sutton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Heartland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Sutton might still be hurting after the 54-34 defeat they got from Heartland in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Sutton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
