The West Wilkes Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 73-50 loss at the hands of Wilkes Central. West Wilkes was down 62-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
It was another big night for Tyson Owens, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds for Wilkes Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Wyles, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
West Wilkes dropped their record down to 5-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Wilkes Central, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
West Wilkes will be playing in front of their home fans against East Surry at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Surry has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 283 points over their last four matches. As for Wilkes Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Forbush at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
