The Las Lomas Knights will challenge the Concord Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Lomas knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Concord likes a good challenge.
If Las Lomas beats Concord with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Knights never let Campolindo get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Knights have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Las Lomas got a big performance out of Milla Hansen, who went 3-for-4 with one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Vance, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Las Lomas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
Berean Christian hit Concord with a 13-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears lost 16-5 to the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
Shay Caban was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Emmalee Usedom was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Las Lomas' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
Concord's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Las Lomas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Concord, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Las Lomas' hitters?
Las Lomas took their win against Concord in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
