The South Bulldogs came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 61-44 win over Marion-Franklin. Given South's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Marion-Franklin is ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Stokes, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Lajames Washington, who scored 15 points.
South's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Marion-Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
South will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mansfield Senior at 3:15 p.m. on December 30th. Marion-Franklin will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Dublin Scioto at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
