Basketball Recap: Kelly Warren Key Part of Team Effort in Blue Devils Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Simmons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past the Humphreys County Cowboys with a 62-58 win. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Cowboys back in November, they had to take a 51-40 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Simmons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelly Warren, who shot 41% from the field on her way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Sa'Riyah Alexander, who posted 18 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Simmons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Simmons has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Humphreys County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Simmons will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Humphreys County, they will be playing at home against Gentry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
