Baseball Recap: Castle View Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pine Creek

Castle View had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Pine Creek Eagles on Saturday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The Sabercats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Keyan Lundvall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Castle View got a massive performance out of Samuel Harry, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Harry continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Tyler Feldhake also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Castle View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Castle View's fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Creek, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 19-4 record.

Looking ahead, Castle View will square off against Grandview at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The Sabercats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. Pine Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
