Even though the Rock Canyon Jaguars have not done well against the D'Evelyn Jaguars recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rock Canyon strolled past D'Evelyn with points to spare, taking the game 57-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rock Canyon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Davis, who scored 21 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Rock Canyon's points. Sienna Pillsbury was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals.
When it comes to explaining why D'Evelyn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Peyton Marvel. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Marvel scored a full 34.1% of D'Evelyn's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Scheer, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Rock Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for D'Evelyn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Rock Canyon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Denver East at 2:00 p.m. on December 2nd. As for D'Evelyn, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Vista at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mountain Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
