At the plate, Rancho let Katelee Nelson and Layla Stout run wild. Nelson got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Stout went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most stolen bases Stout has posted since back in March. They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rancho kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Clark hit Mojave with a six-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rattlers took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. Mojave's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rancho has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Mojave, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Rancho's sizable advantage in that area, the Rattlers will need to find a way to close that gap.
