The Overton Bobcats will challenge the Lawson Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Overton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Hillsboro on Monday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Burros with a sharp 23-4 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Kali Gray was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hana Kajihara was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Serenity Norman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Overton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lawson made easy work of St. Cecilia Academy two weeks ago and carried off a 15-5 win.
Like Overton, Lawson also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophia Rockwell. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rockwell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Lawson got a massive performance out of Livian Martin, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Martin a new career-high. Olivia Tant was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Overton's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Lawson, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Lawson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Overton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lawson, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Overton keep running through batters, or will the Lightning buck the trend?
Overton couldn't quite finish off Lawson when the teams last played back in April and fell 11-9. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
