The Damascus Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Wootton at home and fell 63-36. While losing is never fun, Damascus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Patriots are ranked 68th).
Wootton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Khairi Hyde out in front who scored 12 points along with three steals. Hyde is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jaiden Aze was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Damascus' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8. As for Wootton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Damascus will take on the Gladiators at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Wootton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cougars at 7:15 p.m.
