The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will stay at home for another game and welcome the DSST: College View Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Arrupe Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday.
Arrupe Jesuit won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were outmatched by Middle Park at home and fell 80-50. Arrupe Jesuit was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-17.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Xavier Martinez, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Ari Cowans was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, DSST: College View beat Rocky Mountain Prep SMART 55-50 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for DSST: College View.
Isaias Tomita was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Tomita is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Tomita, who scored 12 points.
Arrupe Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for DSST: College View, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Wednesday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arrupe Jesuit have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DSST: College View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
