Lynchburg-Clay is 8-2 against Peebles since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Lynchburg-Clay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
Lynchburg-Clay's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against West Union as they made off with a 23-0 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Christian Flowers made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Flowers was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Kristian Beachy and Trevor Niehaus did most of the damage at the plate: Beachy went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Niehaus went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cole Wells was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Lynchburg-Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Union only posted an OBP of .278.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Peebles, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past North Adams 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since May 9, 2024.
Nathanel Cummings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Daniel Clark was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Peebles' win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Peebles' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lynchburg-Clay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. It's a different story for Peebles, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain Lynchburg-Clay's hitters?
