The Cannon Cougars won the last time they faced the Providence Day Chargers, and things went their way on Friday too. Cannon strolled past Providence Day with points to spare, taking the game 63-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cannon.
Cannon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madison Drayton out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Drayton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Mccorkle, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Cannon's win was their 18th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.89 points. As for Providence Day, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.
Cannon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Winston-Salem Christian at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Winston-Salem Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 310 points over their last five contests. As for Providence Day, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Charlotte Country Day School at 5:30 p.m.
