In what's become a running theme this season, the Rockledge Raiders gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 69-35 victory over Cocoa. Given Rockledge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Cocoa is ranked 473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ryan Blount, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds. CJ Kearns was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Cocoa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamari Haynes. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Haynes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Travon Graves, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Rockledge pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Cocoa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Rockledge will be playing at home against Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday. As for Cocoa, they will face off against Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game.
