Madison-Ridgeland Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Jackson Academy, who was ranked tenth at the time (Madison-Ridgeland Academy was ranked 22nd). The Patriots came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 7-2 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Rhett Taylor tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Madison-Ridgeland Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 10-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Madison-Ridgeland Academy got a massive performance out of Holt Adams, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Adams has posted since back in March. Alex Lambert was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Hartfield Academy entered their tilt with Jackson Prep on Friday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Patriots.
Latham Bynum looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hartfield Academy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Coleman Yoder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Hartfield Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, their record now sits at 15-11.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Hartfield Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
