The Buchtel Griffins lost against the Washington Tigers back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Buchtel was beaten by Washington 61-28. While losing is never fun, Buchtel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while Washington is ranked 170th).
Leading Washington to victory were Hannah Nicola and Makiya Edwards. Nicola scored 17 points along with three steals, while Edwards dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. La Nia Moore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Buchtel has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Washington, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Buchtel will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kenston at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Washington and Hilliard Davidson will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at.
