The Holy Cross Crusaders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Accelerate Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Holy Cross had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 51-41 win over Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy back in December of 2023. That ten points margin sets a new team best for Holy Cross this season.
Meanwhile, Accelerate Christian's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They secured a 38-32 W over Amarillo Collegiate Academy. The win was just what Accelerate Christian needed coming off of a 84-51 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Accelerate Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Myers, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals. Myers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Leyendecker, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Holy Cross' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-3. As for Accelerate Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-15.
Holy Cross came up short against Accelerate Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 60-52. Can Holy Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
