The Gaylesville Trojans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Victory Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Gaylesville was the victim of a rough 54-30 defeat at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Gaylesville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Tigers are ranked 176th).
Meanwhile, Victory Christian was beaten by the Lions 60-28 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Victory Christian has lost by exactly 32 points.
Victory Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amelia Haney, who scored nine points along with six steals, and Addie Lee who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Haney has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.
Gaylesville dropped their record down to 3-23 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Victory Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.
Gaylesville suffered a grim 74-53 defeat to the Lions in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Victory Christian's Haley Hendrix, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 22 rebounds. Now that Gaylesville knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
