After a string of nine wins, the Jacksonville Golden Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to White Plains. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Jacksonville came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while White Plains is ranked 130th).
Jacksonville's loss came despite strong showings from Aaron Nixon and KyDric Fisher. Nixon scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, while Fisher scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fisher has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Barksdale, who scored 15 points.
Jacksonville's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6. As for White Plains, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will take on Ashville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for White Plains, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherokee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
