The Salmen Spartans lost against the Slidell Tigers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Salmen fell 57-50 to Slidell. While losing is never fun, Salmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Slidell is ranked 33rd).
When it comes to explaining why Salmen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Destiny Bennett. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bennett has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Muse, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Salmen's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-11. As for Slidell, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.
Salmen will square off against Brusly at 4:40 p.m. on Monday. As for Slidell, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Scholastica at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
