The Paulding County Patriots lost against the Alexander Cougars back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Paulding County was beaten by Alexander 79-33. While losing is never fun, Paulding County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Alexander is ranked first).
Leading Alexander to victory were Braedan Lue and Gregory Dunson. Lue scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds, while Dunson scored 19 points. The game was Lue's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Allen Stoddard was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals.
Paulding County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Alexander, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Paulding County will head out on the road to face off against Hillgrove at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillgrove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Paulding County likes a good challenge. As for Alexander, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
