Sumner is 0-3 against Bloomingdale since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. Sumner will welcome Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Sumner is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against East Bay on Tuesday as Sumner made off with a 20-1 win. The Stingrays have beaten the Indians the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Indians has come to flipping the script.

Ethan DeJesus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Winston Pennant was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sumner's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Luke Parson, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.
Sumner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Bloomingdale waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Sharks get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulls, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Bloomingdale also got a great performance from James Osting as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Osting has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alvin Cruz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Trey Baker was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Sumner's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bloomingdale, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sumner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bloomingdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sumner suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Bloomingdale when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Sumner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
