Wesson is 1-9 against Franklin County since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wesson Cobras will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Wesson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-37 to South Pike. Wesson has not had much luck with South Pike recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Franklin County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 48-12 to Port Gibson, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Franklin County has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Wesson's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Franklin County, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Wesson beat Franklin County 30-23 in their previous matchup on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wesson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
