North Penn-Mansfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Southern Columbia Area Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Penn-Mansfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Southern Columbia Area is ranked 51st).
Last Friday, North Penn-Mansfield strolled past Wellsboro with points to spare, taking the game 21-6. The win was just what North Penn-Mansfield needed coming off of a 37-16 defeat in their prior match.
North Penn-Mansfield can attribute much of their success to Cale Wagner, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Wagner was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Karson Dominick was another key contributor, throwing for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
North Penn-Mansfield's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Wellsboro's QB won't forget Ethan Dick anytime soon given Dick sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Shikellamy 55-6 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southern Columbia Area.
Southern Columbia Area got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Garrett Garcia out in front who rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Carter Madden and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Southern Columbia Area's win.
North Penn-Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Southern Columbia Area, their victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1.
North Penn-Mansfield took a serious blow against Southern Columbia Area in their previous meeting back in November of 2019, falling 42-0. Can North Penn-Mansfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
