The Atlantic Trojans were the 78-45 winner over the Perry Bluejays when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Atlantic was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 63-62 to the Bluejays. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), Atlantic still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Myers, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Myers has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last five times he's played. Geren Kenney was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Atlantic's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Perry, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Atlantic will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Denison-Schleswig is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Perry, they will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Iowa (West Marshall is ranked 238th, while the Bluejays are ranked 214th).
