It was a good run, but the Y Yuma unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 46-37 to Sidney. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Y in their matchups with Sidney: they've now lost five in a row.
Y's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alina Moran, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Sheffield, who scored ten points.
Y's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Sidney, their win was their 14th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Y and Wray will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wray has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Sidney will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gering at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Gering will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Sidney is ranked 11th).
