The McQueen Lancers struggled with assists on Thursday (the Bishop Manogue Miners had 24 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. McQueen was beaten by Bishop Manogue 64-10. McQueen has struggled against Bishop Manogue recently, as their contest on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
McQueen got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Camilla Carlson and
Audrey Baumgardner, who each put up three points.
Jaleigh Fred held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with an assist.
Bishop Manogue's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Milasarai Tau, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Tau has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mata Peaua, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals.
McQueen's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Bishop Manogue, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
McQueen will finish 2023 at home by hosting Hug at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Hug is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Bishop Manogue will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fernley at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
