The Pine Crest Panthers were the 35-14 winner over the North Broward Prep Eagles when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Pine Crest fell 27-20 to North Broward Prep on Friday.
North Broward Prep was led to victory by Mason Chapman and Anthony Mestre. Chapman threw for 206 yards and a touchdown while completing 84% of his passes, while Mestre gained 85 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was North Broward Prep's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Cory Brown and his three sacks.
Pine Crest's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 NSU University and 8-0 Archbishop McCarthy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for North Broward Prep, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will take on Saint Andrew's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Saint Andrew's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for North Broward Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against American Heritage at 6:00 a.m. American Heritage will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
