Weymouth (South Weymouth, Mass.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 19 in Massachusetts, but was stunned by
Natick (Mass.), 41-23. Natick was ranked at No. 39 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Massachusetts coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Justin Robinson touchdown run, the Wildcats went into halftime with a 23-21 lead. The Redhawks took the lead for good with a
Troy Flutie touchdown run in the third quarter.
Dave Harrison played well for Weymouth. He threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns.
Flutie stood out for Natick in the win. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
WHS came in allowing just 14.7 points per game this season. The South Weymouth school struggled against NHS's offense, which entered the game scoring 33.0 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 28-21 win for the Redhawks.
The defeat comes as a step back for Weymouth, which notched a 49-7 victory over Newton North in its previous outing.
Weymouth (6-1) goes up against Norwood in a Bay State - Carey game matchup next week, while Natick (6-0) locks horns with Braintree in a Bay State - Herget game.
