The Croatan Cougars had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Richlands with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 69-54. The victory was just what Croatan needed coming off of a 81-59 loss in their prior contest.
Jaden Hilliard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Luke Green was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Mack, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Simco, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Croatan's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Richlands, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Croatan will play host again and welcome West Carteret, where tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Friday. West Carteret has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Richlands, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against White Oak at 7:00 p.m. White Oak knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Richlands likes a good challenge.
