Gilbert is 6-0 against Queen Creek since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Gilbert Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Queen Creek Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Gilbert is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Queen Creek in Arizona (Gilbert is ranked first, while Queen Creek is ranked 214th).
Gilbert stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 82-60 margin over Desert Ridge. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gilbert found their leader in underclassman Caia Campbell, who scored 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. Aspen McClees was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Queen Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 52-21 loss at the hands of Highland. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Queen Creek has suffered against Highland since February 1, 2019.
Gilbert pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.2 points per game. As for Queen Creek, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Gilbert against Queen Creek in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-29 win. Will Gilbert repeat their success, or does Queen Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
