Basketball Recap: Montgomery Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lasalle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montgomery). They blew past the LaSalle Tigers 78-41 on Tuesday. With that win, Montgomery brought their scoring average up to 50.9 points per game.

Montgomery got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacorian Shepherd out in front who dropped a double-double on ten boards and 14 assists. Shepherd is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Latney Laysone, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Montgomery smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for LaSalle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery has already played their next contest (against Northwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. LaSalle will take on Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
