Rocky Mountain has gone 8-2 against Capital recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Grizzlies will look to defend their home field against the Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rocky Mountain has four straight victories, Capital has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Rocky Mountain had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Borah on Thursday. The Grizzlies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Lincoln Mathis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Jackson Wendt

04/19/24 @ Timberline | 3 |

05/04/24 vs Capital | 2 |
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Wendt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Carter Harrison was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Rocky Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Borah only posted an OBP of .053.
Ridgevue hit Capital with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Eagles lost 12-4 to the Warhawks.
Brady Ruzicka was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Maddox Weight, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Rocky Mountain's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rocky Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Rocky Mountain beat Capital 5-1 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
