The Boardman Spartans will challenge the Howland Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Boardman will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Boardman's win against West Branch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Warriors on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 16th.

Addie Kowacich made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Addie Rudge was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Howland fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Champion on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-5 to the Golden Flashes, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison Schmitz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs.
Howland's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Boardman, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Boardman was able to grind out a solid win over Howland when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 5-0. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
