While East Bakersfield's victory against South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blades narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Spartans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blades have posted since September 3rd.
East Bakersfield took South into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 15-7.

East Bakersfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roxanna Ramirez led the charge by getting 14 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Ramirez is now averaging an impressive 12.6 assists per game. Kaylie Demison was another key player, getting 18 digs and four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: East Bakersfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 13 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, North didn't have quite enough to beat Tehachapi on Monday and fell 3-2. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
North took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-13, 21-25, 19-25, 25-18, 16-14.
East Bakersfield will need to focus on slowing down London Kleeman, one of several North players who made an impact when they last played. She had eight kills, six digs, four aces, and one block. Kleeman has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Contreras, who had 13 kills, three digs, three aces, and one block.
East Bakersfield's win bumped their record up to 14-8-1. As for North, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-12-1.
