For the second straight game, Timnath will face off against Berthoud. The Cubs will venture away from home to challenge the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Timnath is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Timnath is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Berthoud on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-2. The Cubs have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Berthoud's part, Wyatt Barmes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. The Spartans are 3-1 when Barmes posts eight or more strikeouts, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Berthoud saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elisha Mosher, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Mosher a new career-high. Gavin Kirk also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Berthoud, bringing their record up to 6-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Timnath, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
