The Mitchell Mustangs will face off against the East Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mitchell 3.6, East Lake 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mitchell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They beat Palm Harbor University by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Savannah Toukatly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madyson Whitaker, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, East Lake never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Largo with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lucy Mondok was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Mondok was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Ali Sheffield was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Frankie Parkes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
East Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Largo only posted an OBP of .083.
Mitchell's record now sits at 17-9. As for East Lake, their record is now 20-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Mitchell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mitchell got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against East Lake by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
