Given Richmond Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Grove Christian School is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
While Cristo Rey couldn't quite beat The Carmel School last Wednesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 50-point loss they were dealt on January 3rd. Cristo Rey fell just short of The Carmel School by a score of 38-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Cristo Rey has suffered yet this season.
Richmond Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Cristo Rey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
