The DuQuoin Indians pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Massac County, falling 84-57. While losing is never fun, DuQuoin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while Massac County is ranked 145th).
Despite the defeat, DuQuoin had strong showings from Dwayne Wilmington, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, and Eli Maynor, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Amir Grant was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Massac County was led to victory by Will Harmon and Isaac Hosman. Harmon went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists, while Hosman scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Abrie turner, who scored 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for DuQuoin and nudges their season record down to 9-18. As for Massac County, they have been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 20 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
DuQuoin will head out on the road to face off against Nashville at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. DuQuoin is coming into the contest with three straight losses on the road, meaning Nashville will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Massac County, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hamilton County at 5:00 p.m. on February 15th.
