The annual Shriners football games, featuring the top graduating seniors from throughout Massachusetts, will be held later this month. And there will be a bonus for Bay State football fans this year who will be able to see both games as standouts officially end their respective high school gridiron careers.
The 31st Shriners Football Classic, sponsored by Aleppo Shriners and the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association, will be played on Friday, June 19, at Bentley University in Waltham starting at 7 p.m.
Among standouts from 76 schools representing schools north and south of Boston will be Jim Noel of Everett High School (Boston College); Steven Grassa of Buckingham, Browne & Nichols (Columbia University); Ted Ouellet of Dover-Sherborn High School (Bowling Green University) and Justin Mello from Dartmouth High School.
All proceeds from the North vs. South game will go to the Shriners Hospital in Boston, which provides free medical care to young children who are recovering from burn-related injuries.

West vs. Central in ninth annual Shrine Chowder Bowl Classic
The ninth annual Shrine Chowder Bowl Classic football game, featuring graduating seniors from Central and Western Massachusetts, will be held on Friday, June 26, at Springfield College beginning at 7 p.m. The game has raised approximately $50,000 for the the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The Central All-Stars hold an edge of 6-1-1 in the event, having won the past three games by one point each.
Ron Brace, a 6-foot-3, 330-pound tackle, who played in the 2004 Chowder Bowl classic after graduating from Burncoat, was picked 40th overall in the 2009 NFL draft with the New England Patriots acquiring him. Brace was a 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2008.
