The Lutheran North Lions pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Westbury Christian on the road by a decisive 84-69 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lutheran North in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lutheran North lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sion Cleveland. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Isaiah Greenhouse was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Lutheran North struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westbury Christian pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Jason Scott was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 18 rebounds for Westbury Christian. Scott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javien Cummings, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.
Lutheran North's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Westbury Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lutheran North will challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith West Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1486th, while the Lions are ranked 685th). As for Westbury Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 63.25 points so far this season, St. Francis Episcopal's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Wildcats better be ready for a challenge.
