After a string of three wins, the Hayden Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 58-42 to Emporia. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hayden has scored all season.
River Peters was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with three steals for Emporia. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Peters has scored at least 25% of Emporia's points. Sheldon Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Hayden's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Emporia, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayden will take on Washburn Rural at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Washburn Rural is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Emporia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Topeka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
