The Inland Lakes Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Mancelona Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Inland Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Inland Lakes put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 83-49 victory over Pellston. With Inland Lakes ahead 46-19 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Inland Lakes' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Sam Schoonmaker, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Connor Wallace, who scored 25 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Schoonmaker hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Fenstermaker, who scored 15 points along with six blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mancelona unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of St. Mary Cathedral by a score of 36-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mancelona has scored all season.
Inland Lakes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Mancelona, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.
Inland Lakes came up short against the Ironmen in their previous meeting back in January, falling 61-56. Can Inland Lakes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
