The Payson Longhorns struggled with threes on Tuesday (the Holbrook Roadrunners had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Payson took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holbrook. Payson has not had much luck with Holbrook recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Payson still got an impressive performance from Dominik Stuerzer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Schinstock, who scored nine points.
Holbrook can attribute much of their success to Xavier Brown, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cummings, who scored 12 points.
Payson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Holbrook, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Payson will take on Blue Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holbrook, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Winslow at 7:30 p.m.
