Basketball Recap: Chambers Drops Season-High Score on New Hanover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chambers). They strolled past the New Hanover Wildcats with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 80-66. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the season.

Despite the loss, New Hanover still got an impressive performance from Kellum Brown, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten boards. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Dylan Fortun was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

The win (which was Chambers' third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for New Hanover, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Chambers is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Hickory Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Ragin' Bulls have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for New Hanover, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Jack Britt at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
