Missouri River Valley - West recap September 10, 2013
Grain Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 148 from 203 this week, the biggest jump in Missouri River Valley - West. The Eagles were able to make move up by besting Benton 23-17.
Oak Grove was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Holden. The Panthers came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
Oak Grove's dynamic duo of Austin Blackston and Drew Phillips proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Blackston threw for 105 yards and Phillips had 70 yards receiving.
Pat Richard's team's dynamic duo of Blackston and Phillips proved to be unstoppable against Holden, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Blackston put up the best numbers through the air as the Panthers bested Mike Hedrick's team.
Phillips was the best wideout in the league this week as Oak Grove beat the Eagles.
Zach Davidson was a passing and rushing force as Harrisonville beat Savannah. He completed 5 passes for 87 yards and also ran for 42 yards. Davidson's key target this week was Mason Saffels, who caught 4 passes for 65 yards.
Austin Hopper was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 113 yards on 23 carries as the Wildcats bested Holden. Saffels also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
Oak Grove's Blackston and Phillips have formed a dream team this season, leading Missouri River Valley - West in both passing and receiving yards. Blackston has thrown for 217 yards this season, while Phillips has 4 catches for 103 yards. Hopper from Harrisonville leads the league in rushing with 222 yards.
