Turkeyfoot Valley Area had lost 11 games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees. The Rams not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024 (when they won 16-0).
Rhylan Rugg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maleigha Younkin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie King, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
As for Clay-Battelle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
On Clay-Battelle's side, Shyanne Carpenter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Savannah Doshen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
